Dear ICE Urban Combat Family,

We thank you all for making March a month to remember at ICE Urban Combat. Let us make April even better! Please read below for some important updates for the month of April.

SPECIALTY CLASSES for APRIL. In addition to our regular Tuesday and Saturday group class schedules, we are offering the following specialty classes this month:

Blade to Blade 101 (for adults and teens 15+) on Wednesday, April 9th from 6:15pm-7:30pm. This class will focus on the primary skills needed in a knife vs. knife altercation. We will teach YOU how to use YOUR knife, skillfully, to win against an opponent armed with a knife of their own. Protective eyewear is required. Groin protector is required for men, optional for women. We will provide the training knives, but if you have your own, bring it. Cost of this class is $20 per person and it is for ICE Urban Combat members only. Sign up in advance to reserve your spot. Sparring Clinic (for kids and teens ranked Green Belt level and above) on Thursday, April 24th at 4:30pm for kids 12 and under, and at 5:30pm for teens. These are bonus classes this month (no charge) and are for ICE Urban Combat students only. Participants must have a full set of sparring gear. Reserve your spot in advance by simply texting us at 805-500-3534 to confirm.

Trapping to Takedowns for Rapid Finishes (for adults and teens 15+) on Thursday, April 24th from 6:30pm to 7:45pm. This class will focus on our close-range trapping skills, base-breaking tools and efficient takedowns to abruptly finish your opponent. Because remember our mentality… We are not training to be good at fighting somebody. That suggests a mutual, physical exchange of violence. We have no interest in that. That is below us. Rather, we are training to respond to the attacker’s initial threat with shockingly efficient violence of our own, specifically designed to overwhelm them in a matter of seconds. This is Self OFFENSE. Cost of this class is $20 per person and it is for ICE Urban Combat students only. Sign up in advance to reserve your spot. Gate Codes: There has been some confusion regarding the gate codes on Saturdays. This is personally my fault. A misunderstanding between myself and property management has been cleared up. Here are the gate codes moving forward:

1. East Driveway Gate Code is #2025 (This is officially our gate, and it is located at the first driveway on your right when coming from Wendy Rd./101 freeway. Please use this gate whenever possible.)
2. West Driveway Gate Code is #2020 (This gate technically belongs to the neighboring business park, but we share the driveway. It is located at the first driveway on your LEFT when coming from Reino Rd. On Saturdays, please only use this gate if you must. On weekdays, it does not matter because the gate is open anyway.)

Private Training: Interested in taking some private training at HALF the cost or less? Private lessons are shareable. And right now, we have several individuals looking to partner up with someone or even create small groups of 3-6 people to share the cost and get in on that elite, specialized type of training. Let us know if you’re interested and we’ll get you set up!

Referral Program: Our referral program is back! Why? Because our favorite kinds of new people are those brought to us by YOU. If you refer a friend who joins on a membership, we’ll thank you with a $75 ICE gift card! If you refer a friend to us for a kids trial and they don’t end up joining on a membership, we’ll still thank you with a $25 ICE gift card.

Tardiness Policy (applies to Youth and Adult Classes): As we often say during classes, “To be early is to be on time. To be on time is to be LATE. To be late is to be left behind.” We understand that life is hectic and sometimes being late is unavoidable. If you are late and the class is in session, do NOT enter until an instructor has given you permission. This is for safety reasons, and it helps avoid untimely distractions. 5-MINUTE-RULE: If you are beyond five minutes late, you will not be allowed in.

Sparring Gear for Kids: Sparring training has always been an important part of what we do. The various spar drills we incorporate into classes help to greatly improve timing, accuracy, speed, spacing, positioning, reaction time, defense and footwork. Protective sparring gear is needed to participate in these types of drills. This gear is required for all students at Yellow Belt level and above in order for your child to progress to the next level. If your child is at Yellow Belt level or above, and does not yet have sparring gear, please let us know so that we can order some for you. Also, any students at the White Belt level are welcome to get sparring gear, but it is not yet a requirement. We understand this comes at another cost to you, and that is why we don’t require it for beginners. But please do understand that students who would like to participate in spar drills during regular classes or specialty classes must have their own gear. We sell the gear at our school for your convenience.

Special Events: Stay tuned for updates on upcoming special events such as: Self OFFENSE workshops for ladies, Protector workshops for men, Sparring clinics for kids, Tactical Knife Defense and Blade vs. Blade courses, JKD Trapping on Steroids courses, Beginner courses, ICE happy hours and more!
